Buying a Bench?
Choosing a bench isn’t as simple as you may have thought; with so many to choose from and the applications you may require it for can be confusing!
There is no doubt that the bench is the best overall choice of any strength equipment available right now. Place it in a smith machine or Power Rack and you have a great solution to achieving your body goals.
Barbell Benches:
These benches are usually of heavy construction and take an Olympic bar. These are designed for the ‘Bench Press’ building upper Body mass.
Commercial Benches:
These are constructed of Heavy Gauge steel and have harder wearing upholstery.
Flat Benches:
Used for all dumbbell work; aiming to work the mid area of the Pectorals. These benches are cheaper than most others.
Folding Benches:
Folding Benches are a fantastic solution for saving space in the home. All major exercises can be performed on these benches.
Incline / Decline Benches:
Incline benches work the upper pectorals and deltoids as apposed to the decline benches which work the lower pectorals. These new benches work both areas of the pectorals plus the mid range area whist in the neutral position (flat)
Preacher Benches:
Preacher benches are designed to isolate the biceps and to assist growth.
